I joined RJ Financial Planning as a part time Administration and Events organiser in its previous form, back in 2014. My previous background was related to education and sports development, graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Sport/Physical Education and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Physical Education.
The skills I’ve developed within the education sector, transferred well to the finance setting in terms of developing processes, organising and ensuring continuous improvement within our Practice. In particular, I enjoy organising our client and business related events, meeting others outside of the office setting. As a growing Practice, there have been many changes over the years to include the opening of our High Street office in Cardigan in 2017 and developing our team in order to strengthen the Practice.
Outside of work, I have the pleasure of being Richard’s wife and chief dog walker! Inevitably, with a background in sport, I’ve been managing and coaching the local Netball club since 2005 but also have other interests in crafting, DIY and a fairly keen Food and Drink enthusiast.
I have worked in financial services since 2003, including the banking world and previously, as an independent financial adviser. Throughout my career I have always put doing what is right for clients at the heart of everything I do, and this has in turn produced a track record of helping clients succeed in achieving their financial goals that I am very proud of.
I now look to achieve this as a paraplanner by ensuring everything is documented to the highest possible standard. This would not be possible without keeping my knowledge of the industry up to date, especially in the ever-changing times we live in, and I am therefore committed to my own personal development.
Outside of work I love spending time with my family and my 3 young children keep me on my toes! Over the years I have also taken part in a range of charitable activities in my local communities such as painting the church hall and hosting a party for disabled children and their families, raising money for cancer charities through running the Cardiff Half Marathon.
I joined the RJ Financial Planning Team as Practice Manager in 2017 after nearly 25 years in High Street banking, managing a portfolio of wealth clients specialising in all aspects of banking. I am extremely passionate about providing a first-rate service to all our clients and in working with local businesses.
I manage the Cardigan office which opened on the High Street at the end of 2017 but actively service all our clients throughout the 3 neighbouring counties of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.
Outside of work I am married to Steve and we have 2 grown up children with whom I love to spend time. I enjoy socialising with friends, have a passion for travel and my passion is being involved with fund raising for various charities.
I have worked in Financial Services for over 25 years, initially as a Financial Adviser/Area Manager with Pearl Assurance and from 2001 as a Partner in a Financial Advice Practice dealing with all aspects of financial requirements, face to face with both existing and new clients.
Having decided to retire at the end of 2017, after a short break, I decided to come out of retirement and join RJ Financial Planning as an administrator in 2018.
I have lived in beautiful West Wales all my life, walking the local routes, I enjoy all sports and heavily involved with secretarial duties for the local Cardigan Rugby Club.
With over 32 years of experience in financial services particularly working in retail and business banking, developing trusted relationships has been a constant throughout my career.
I’ve provided financial guidance and support to a wide range of people from all walks of life which include personal banking products, assessing lending applications through to helping start-up businesses. I also moved onto working in head office operational teams where I advanced my career in analysing data, governance reporting and risk & control management.
I have always been an advocate of life-long learning and continuously develop my skills and knowledge. I joined St. James’s Place in November 2018 on an accelerated development programme where I gained relevant skills and qualifications in financial planning. I’m looking forward to providing the very finest service to clients, meeting the financial needs of those who are just starting out in a career through to planning for retirement and beyond.
It's important to me that I have the right work-life balance. I’m married to Margaret and we have two grown up children. We love travelling and experiencing different cultures and food. We also enjoy the beauty of our local area of Pembrokeshire and neighbouring counties. I spend a lot of my spare time walking our two rescue dogs, gardening or on my mountain bike. Where I can I support local charity events and have volunteered in the past for a few sporting events including the 2012 London Olympic Games.
